Brita Professional gets behind Hospitality Action charity

The water filtration experts are donating £1 for each filter exchanged from today (Friday 1 November) to Saturday 30 November 2013, in a bid to raise as much money as possible for the charity. This year’s campaign is part of Brita’s support and builds on the success of the 2011 filter amnesty, which saw the Brita team raise over £4,000 to go towards helping people who work, or have worked, in the UK hospitality industry and are in a time of crisis.

Café At-Bristol, the catering facility at At-Bristol has been awarded a SA Gold Food For Life Catering Mark. Elior’s Kevin Collett, general manager at Café At-Bristol, is the man behind this recent success. He has led his team to offer a menu which meets the high standards required to achieve gold status. This includes using organic milk and meat products, free-range eggs and MSC accredited fish. More emphasis has been placed on provenance and the team has been trained in sustainable practice.

Manitowoc Foodservice acquires INDUCS AG, supplier of induction technology

Induction products will be sold under the Garland brand to all Manitowoc Foodservice global customers while INDUCS continues to serve its OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) customers and distribution partners. Unique features include energy efficient lighting and bespoke coffee flower decorative panels as well as its counter and service points which have been designed to maximise efficiency and speed of service.  A dedicated iPad station will also be installed for customer use to check emails, play games and browse the web ahead of their flights.

Compass opens 50th Costa franchise store in Moorfields Eye Hospital

A blue ribbon event marked the opening of the store on World Sight Day, 10th October, when the day’s takings will be donated to Moorfields Eye Charity. The partnership between Costa and Compass started in 2008, when the first full store opened at Ealing Hospital – one store per month has been opened since then, as the partnership has gone from strength to strength.

Britain’s Best Sausage for 2013 – the battle begins

The judges selected three of the highest scoring sausages from each of the competition’s five categories. The final 15 will now go forward to the final at Butchers Hall on 25 October 2013, where one will be crowned ‘Overall Champion’. The finalists are: Category 1 – Traditional Pork Sausage Category •    ‘Breakfast Sausage’ from Moss Valley Fine Meats •    ‘Traditional Pork Sausage’ from Cam Family Butchers
