Caterer Vacherin appoints head of operations

Macfarlane has joined from Lusso, CH&Co’s London catering arm, where he was director of operations.  In his new role he will oversee a team of three operators managing Vacherin’s portfolio of clients.

New recruits strengthen Lynx Purchasing’s business support

Jenny Couves and Matt Thompkins joined Lynx as business managers at the start of July. Both are based in the south east and will work with existing Lynx customers in the region, as well as focusing on expanding the company’s customer base.    Couves was previously a national account manager for Beacon Purchasing, and has also worked for both 3663 and Brakes. Thompkins previously ran the catering operation at the London Wetlands Centre, and has also worked on both the operations and sales side in hospitality, including Brakes.

Coeliac UK launches Gluten-free on the Move app

The app which is available now on iPhone and android, aims to help people diagnosed with coeliac disease and those following a gluten-free diet, to manage every element of their diet, whether it's shopping for food or finding somewhere to eat out.   The app includes access to Coeliac UK’s Food and Drink Directory listing nearly 10,000 products suitable for a gluten-free diet and allows users to scan items as they shop to see if they are listed in the directory.

Health and safety hat trick for Aramark

The company has again won the hotel and catering industry sector category in RoSPA’s Occupational Health and Safety Awards.  The accolade, which recognises Aramark’s outstanding approach to preventing workplace accidents and ill health, places it ahead of all other catering companies or hotel businesses which entered.   RoSPA judges considered criteria including accident and ill health data, risk management, improvement in health and safety performance, and the promotion of health and safety among employees and contractors.
