Many caterers are already familiar with the Food for Life Catering Mark and over 600,000 Catering Mark meals are being served every day in schools, hospitals, universities, nurseries and staff restaurants. To help them meet the requirements of the Catering Mark standards, caterers need suppliers who can deliver products that can satisfy a variety of accreditations required at the bronze, silver and gold levels of the Catering Mark.

Birmingham launches food hygiene ratings

Residents and visitors to the city will be able to check the hygiene ratings of more than 6,500 food businesses at food.gov.uk/ratings.

FSA assists businesses with food allergy research

The study will assess what information is already provided to consumers about allergenic ingredients in foods that are sold as non pre-packed and pre-packed for direct sale (also known as loose foods). This will be done before a new EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation comes into force in December 2014. The research will also help establish how the Agency can assist food businesses to adhere to the new regulation.

After launching its first major advertising campaign last year, Upper Crust, which is owned and operated by food travel expert SSP UK, has raised the bar for sandwich marketing with solid advertising across the capital over the last 18 months. The latest activity, which includes print advertising and tube card panels across London, features a series of festive messages such as “treat yourself to a meaty gift” and “the Christmas lunch, without the really bad Christmas music.”
