The SCOTY competition aims to show the high quality of school meals and the contribution they make to the health and wellbeing of children.
To start, Jackie created a sweet chilli glazed spiral dog for the ‘grab and go’ entry. This was a dish that she designed with the help of the students from her school, Hewitt Academy, Norwich.
Wendy Lohse from Shalfleet CofE Primary School (Chartwells) made Lightly fried Quorn ‘fishless’ cakes served with cucumber relish and a spicy mayonnaise for her grab & go item.

Tasha from Crispin Academy, Street, Somerset created a spicy, vegetarian curry wrap for her ‘grab & go’ item.
Being nominated for a LACA award gives a sense of prestige and honour at a personal level and raises the professional reputation of the organisation or school employing award winners.
According to WRAP food waste is costing the industry £3.2Bn a year and almost 75% of the food wasted could have been eaten.
Good management, strong performances and high achievements deserve to be recognised and it is particularly important to not only reward but sustain motivation.
