The day is focused on spreading kindness and good will, as well as alleviating loneliness and social isolation for those experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable groups.
The community service is run by 50 volunteers known fondly as ‘angels’ as they deliver over 150 hot meals into the local community every day.
Central to the launch, Apetito has made additions to its allergen free-from range which are available in individual portion sizing.
The report found only 29% of Meals on Wheels services are still in operation across the UK and fewer than 18% in England.
On 18th October, rising stars in vegan and vegetarian care catering were honoured at a ceremony held in the Houses of Parliament.
Wayne Wright, healthcare culinary development chef at Bidfood said: “After another set of challenging months for the care sector, some fun-filled celebration can be exactly what’s needed.
Hundreds of schools, many NHS Trusts, care homes, colleges and universities all took part with special menus highlighting British produce.
Over £16,000 was raised and this will be used to improve the outdoor sensory area at the newly formed Heath Lodge Community Haven care home in Boroughbridge.
His appointment was declared to the association’s members and his two-year tenure began at the recent NACC National Training & Development Forum in Nottingham.
