Mucavele has been at the forefront of the charity’s work over the last decade developing national school food standards and the first guidelines to help young children eat better.
The Change4Life campaign follows revelations that four to 10 year olds consume over 5,500 sugar cubes a year, or around 22kg – the average weight of a five year old.
The event was held at the London School of Economics’ Saw Swee Hock Students Union on December 18th and GIG…fyi donated furniture, drinks, glasses and pie & mash for the 130 MSF staff.
Councillor Lynda Rice, said: “It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces as the young people tucked into healthy and mouth-watering festive food.
£10,000 was contributed by the company and the other £30,000 was raised by staff members in a series of individual and team sponsored events.
Instead of swapping gifts with colleagues, the food specialists, who cater for a range of prestigious venues and events from its South Queensferry headquarters, have been donating presents to Forth
The range of desserts and snacks contain approximately 30% less sugar, fat and calories than the caterer’s traditional recipes.
The team will now go forward to the Scottish National Awards in March 2016 in the category of Specialist Entertainment Venue.
