The company – one of the area’s biggest employers – presented Ms Dinenage with a tour of its facilities, which included a meet and greet with employees and the opportunity to experience first-hand, the scale of manufacturing undertaken within her constituency.
Speaking about the visit, Rosemary Mason, managing director Foodservice Nordic and UK, Huhtamaki Ltd. said: “As a large manufacturer in the Gosport area, we continually invest in both our staff and our operations; and it’s this approach that has led us to develop such a successful British manufacturing facility – something we are obviously very proud of.
“We make a conscious effort to invest in training initiatives for our workforce and to generate New Product Development which satisfies both customer demand and expectation.
“Ms Dinenage’s visit has come at an ideal time – the UK site has recently implemented the sole use of PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified paperboard. This means that 100% of our paper cups and food containers are now made from PEFC certified board.”
Ms Dinenage was also given the chance to see the complete production process – from the customisation of products to the actual manufacture of various products on the factory floor.
The MP said: “It is a pleasure to see a local company thriving in such a competitive market place. I was really impressed by Huhtamaki’s commitment to innovation and sustainability and the high quality of the products they are manufacturing. Huhtamaki’s range of clients is incredibly impressive and they are a real asset to the local community.”
