Abstract
As I sit down to write this Blog I am conscious that I am nearing the end of my time as Chair of the Public Sector Catering Alliance. It has been an amazing time and I have met so many wonderful people with such passion and flair for all that they do.

They say that not all superheroes wear capes. Well, I have a secret to share, most wear aprons I have discovered. And they have hearts of gold to boot.

As I move into a new phase of my life and our Vice Chair Jayne Jones steps up to the plate, I am acutely aware of all the preparations that are in hand for a new academic year and the start of new seasons across the entire public sector.

We have a new government, and already we are seeing that there is a huge mountain to climb, but this refreshing grown-up approach to tackling issues instead of kicking things into the long grass.

It shows a real sense of responsibility that we, as caterers, must also bear even as we continue our efforts to bring the attention of ministers back to focus on the challenges we face.

After the election, I urged you to invite MP’s into your operations and I reiterate that now.

Don’t be shy, ask away, and always throw in free lunch so that they get to sample first-hand the wonders you and your teams perform.

We have to be loud and proud about what we are able to deliver and how we impact so many of the services which protect the health and well-being of our communities.

Looking ahead, we have the Public Sector Catering Alliance Forum on November 19th, which I know is going to be hugely exciting and will enable us to promote the amazing work you do.

It will be my farewell as Chair of the PSC Alliance, so if I don’t see you there, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support and for being such amazing ambassadors for the industry you represent.
