LACA searching for Breakfast Club pool of advisors
Abstract
LACA, the school food people, are searching for specialist advisors to support schools who are early adopters of the Breakfast Club programme.

Included in Labour’s manifesto was the planned roll out of a number of Breakfast Clubs to schools across England. This is due to commence in April 2025 with 750 geographically spread pilot schools for a 12-month period initially.

To support the Government, and specifically the Department for Education (DfE) with the roll out, a procurement tender has been circulated for interested parties to express their interest if they feel they can support the tender requirements.

Advisors will use their expertise to provide guidance to schools to maximise the quality of their provision, to provide a safe and compliant service and help schools navigate through delivery and share best practice.

LACA has completed and submitted the ‘expression of interest’ documentation to provide this support. Many of you may remember LACA tendered for a similar contract in supporting the roll out of UIFSM in 2012/13 and were successfully awarded the contract with partner organisations.

The LACA Board feel the organisation has a lot to offer in support of this roll out as well, but as with the UIFSM contract. LACA need to identify a number of ‘advisors’ across the country with the right experience, time and enthusiasm to support them.

Judith Gregory, chair of LACA, said: “We have just been advised we have been shortlisted to the next stage of the process which is to complete the more detailed tender documentation. It is therefore timely that we now ask members if you would like to be considered to be one of LACA’s advisors. This will be paid for work (as it was with UIFSM), albeit the rate is yet to be calculated as we work through the tender exercise.”

LACA are looking people for a range of skillsets, including local authority or contract caterer experience, particularly in your engagement with schools to set up and run such clubs or other experience relevant to the running of school Breakfast Clubs.

To express your interest, and if you feel you have the skills, time and enthusiasm to become involved, LACA would like to hear from you. All applications will be considered but no guarantees can be made. In the first instance please send:

  1. A copy of your CV – please ensure this details relevant key skills that demonstrate your suitability for the type of work necessary to meet the needs to support Breakfast Programme
  2. Cover letter identifying your availability (days of the week or times available)
  3. Copy of your DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate number
  4. LACA region or area that you are prepared to work in

In order to assist in completion of the tender documentation, LACA would welcome your responses by Friday 7th February 2025.
