Abstract
To mark the forthcoming Royal Wedding, organisers of the young chef and waiting competitions, the Wessex Salon Culinaire, which is taking place on 15-16 March, have decided to introduce a new category to the competition schedule - to create a royal wedding cake.
With the show hosted so close to the wedding date, the organisers are inviting budding chefs in employment, training or education to enter the 'Royal Wedding Cake' competition category and create their very own creation for the occasion. Chefs will be required to create a cake suitable for HRH Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding and it will need to be made up of a maximum of two edible tiers which fit within an area of 50cm square. Entry to the competition will need to be submitted by Tuesday 1 March and forms can be downloaded via www.hotel-expo.co.uk/wsc. Chefs can enter as many competition categories as they wish. The winner will receive a complimentary place, courtesy of National Skills Academy Hospitality, to attend an Academy-endorsed Chef Master Class worth £125 at Cyrus Todiwala's, Café Spice Namaste in London. Other highlights of the event, in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs and sponsored by Nestle Professional, include the Coastline Produce Sea Bass Challenge, the Caterer, Licensee & Hotelier Student Chef of the Year and the Nestlé Professional CHEF at Salon.
