Over the two days of the event, attendees engaged in discussions, workshops and presentations at the Avery Healthcare-owned care home, focused on shaping the future of care catering in the UK. The event encouraged collaboration and innovation, offering delegates a chance to share insights on care improvements and network.
Neel Radia, chair of the NACC, said: “Wandsworth Common Care Home’s hospitality was incredible, and the effort made to cater for all dietary needs was greatly appreciated. The passion for care and quality was truly inspiring.”
The new head chef Wandsworth Common Tom Nurse and sous chef Krunoslav Konc worked with hospitality manager Desire Jackson to prepare creative and nutritious meals for those attending.
Thomas Holden, general manager of Wandsworth Common Care Home, added: “It was a privilege to welcome industry leaders to our home. We, like the NACC, are committed to improving care every day, and for me, that starts with staff well-being and development. Our head chef will be among the first applicants for the Care Chef of the Year Competition, showcasing his skills and passion for care catering.”
The NACC’s Care Chef of the Year 2025 competition will focus on sustainability, creativity and reducing food waste, with a £1,000 prize for the winner. The longest standing care chef competition in the UK, it is open to those working in care homes, local authorities and other care organisations including hospices.
