Abstract
TV chef Phil Vickery rolled up his sleeves at the cookery club at St Andrew's in Westminster, London, to launch a competition for kids to create the dish they would most like to see on their school menu.
The celebrity chef showed members of the club how to make turkey tortillas and encouraged them to come up with their own ideas using British turkey. Two winners will each receive £1,000 for new equipment for their school, plus a bike for themselves. Vickery said: "British turkey is fantastically tasty – and it's really good for you. My kids love it, so I know we are going to get some great entries. They could design a funny face pizza, pasta dish or curry dish. The only rule is that as well as turkey the recipe must contain at least two different vegetables - they can pick their favourites!" More details and entry forms can be found on www.britishturkey.co.uk or by calling 0800 783 9994. The closing date is November 20th 2009.
