Abstract
Britain's top chefs have joined forces to support chef Simon Hulstone in the Bocuse d'Or, the culinary equivalent to the Oscars, which takes place in January.
Chefs such as Marco Pierre White, Albert and Michel Roux and Heston Blumenthal, along with the Academy of Culinary Arts, who manage the UK Bocuse d'Or representation, have all pledged to support Hulstone and help raise awareness of the Bocuse d'Or in the UK.
The petition was launched at The Restaurant Show in London following the opening address by Albert Roux. Both Electrolux Professional and Nestlé Professional are hosting the petition at their stands throughout the duration of the show. An online petition will be hosted on The Staff Canteen, a chefs' forum.
Heston Blumenthal said: "I'm backing Simon for the Bocuse d'Or and hope that by launching this petition we can raise awareness and give the British candidate and Team UK the support that they deserve."
Michel Roux added: "Simon is a Roux scholar and a hugely talented chef but this is no ordinary competition. I'm backing the petition to help raise the awareness and funds necessary for Team UK to achieve success in Lyon."
The Bocuse d'Or final takes place at Sirha in Lyon on January 24-26th, 2011. A supporters trip is being organised to cheer on Hulstone and his commis, Jordan Bailey, as they prepare and present their platters to a panel of chef judges.
