Abstract
Staffordshire-based restaurant group chef Matt Davies is celebrating after winning the Louis Cipolla National Chef of the Year title at the recent British Culinary Federation Awards.
The award was presented at an awards ceremony at the Hilton Metropole Birmingham, after peers nominated Davies for his services to the catering industry, above six fellow finalists. As well as working for the Lewis Partnership, Davies heads up a kitchen at Stafford College and is Chairman of judges for Taste of Staffordshire's Young Chef and Master Chef' awards. Speaking of his recent accolade, Davies said: "It was a great honour to be nominated alongside leading chefs, but to actually win the title left me speechless. This is the award that all chefs strive to achieve as it recognises excellence and achievement within the catering industry." Congratulating Davies on his win, Graeme Whitehead from Taste of Staffordshire said: "Matt is a great inspiration to the young chefs we have in Staffordshire and with his experience of working with some of the UK's top chefs in Michelin Starred kitchens, he is just the right person to give them an insight into the industry. "We are extremely proud to have him as one of our judges and would like to congratulate him on behalf of the team at Taste of Staffordshire."
