Sodexo signs industry-first catering agreement with unions

5th Jul 2011 - 00:00
Abstract
Sodexo has announced it has become the first foodservice and FM provider to sign a National Framework Agreement with three of the UK's leading trade unions – Unite, UNISON and GMB.
A spokesman says the agreement defines the relationship between the contractor and the three unions, identifying the core principles for managers, union representatives and other employees regarding the expectations they may have of each other. It is also a public declaration from each party of their commitment to joint working and raising awareness of the "genuine, effective and positive relationship between unionised staff and Sodexo". Sodexo provides more than 43,000 jobs across 2,300 locations in the UK. Aidan Connolly, Sodexo UK and Ireland chief executive, said: "This agreement is a significant achievement that clearly demonstrates our commitment for joint working with trade unions. "Our culture is based on respect and high moral and ethical standards. We respect unequivocally the right of every employee to unionise.
