Abstract
Sodexo and Eton College have raised over £11,000 for Sodexo's STOP Hunger campaign and local community projects at their recent 11th annual charity golf event.
Sodexo, a leading provider of on-site service solutions, has provided catering services at Eton College for over 40 years. The annual charity golf day has raised a massive £88,600 over the past 11 years.
Over 40 people, including Sodexo's suppliers, employees and sponsors from across the industry, took part in the event on Eton College's own nine-hole golf course. All entry fees and donations collected during the tournament go to Sodexo's STOP Hunger campaign (which supports projects working towards combating poor nutrition in local communities) and various charitable organisations in the Eton area.
The night before, all players tucked into a four-course dinner which included seared sea bass with a spiced salad and lobster finger to start and steak and mushroom pudding with summer vegetables and potato tart for the main. The dinner was prepared by Sodexo's catering team at the college and sponsored by some of the company's key suppliers – Fresh Direct, Browns Meats, Premier Foods and Major International.
After dinner players were invited to dig deep and bid at an auction for items such as full hospitality for six at Guards Polo, dinner for eight cooked at their own home including wines and a week's holiday in a French Gite in Limoges. All items were donated to the auction which raised a grand total of £6,000.
Ian Mort, Sodexo's general manager at Eton College and organiser of the event, said: "Every year this event gets better and better and I am amazed and humbled by the dedication and generosity of those that attend. It's great to see that our charitable efforts are going towards such deserving charities to make things better for those less fortunate." Philip Highy, catering adviser at Eton College, added: "Great news! It is good to see the Eton College and Sodexo partnership benefitting so many good local causes."
