Abstract
The CIS Excellence Awards 2013, which aim to recognise the highest achievers in Scottish catering, tourism and hospitality, have been held and this year’s winners announced.

Hosted by BBC Scotland’s Kaye Adams at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel, the Catering in Scotland (CIS) Excellence Awards, now in their 10th year, have carved a niche for themselves in the busy hospitality industry calendar.

Alex Buchanan, director of the CIS Excellence Awards, said: “The CIS Awards are a celebration of the incredible talent involved in the industry, from stalwarts who’ve made a sterling contribution to creating the vibrant profession it is today, now Scotland’s second biggest employer, to emerging newcomers.

“We can be extremely proud of a sector where passion, creativity and innovation abound.”

This year’s Awards Advisory Board included Dr Claire Brown, former Project Manager of the Scottish Government’s healthyliving award; Stephen Carter OBE, Chairman, De Vere Cameron House; HIT Scotland Chief Executive, David Cochrane; Two-Michelin-Star chef, Andrew Fairlie; Edinburgh hotelier and restaurateur, James Thomson OBE; and Robyn Glynne-Percy, director of Freshwater Communications.
