Abstract
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Anna Soubry, the minister for public health, said she had told staff in her constituency office in Nottingham, to take time out to have a meal for lunch rather than eating at their desks.

She is quoted as saying: “Today, people don’t get paid for their lunch. It’s mad and it’s wrong. Also, it’s disgusting eating over a keyboard.”

She said that workers taking a proper lunch break was a good thing because it gave them a chance to relax, do something different and enjoy their food.

However, in the interview she also admits that sometimes she does eat lunch in her own office.

Talking more widely about diet and nutrition she said people in Britain had a “weird” relationship with food.

She wanted to see people spending more time cooking and enjoying their own meals and urged families to take the time to sit down together to eat.
