Prue Leith to retire from School Food Trust

5th Aug 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
Prue Leith has today announced her plan to retire from her role as chair of the School Food Trust when she turns 70 in the New Year.
Since taking up the role in January 2007 Ms Leith has worked for the Trust and has travelled the length and breadth of the country, visiting many schools and promoting excellence and good practice. Judy Hargadon, chief executive of the Trust commented: "Prue has been a dynamic and passionate Chairperson and we shall miss her greatly. She has done an amazing job of convincing people in many walks of life about the importance of better food in schools. "Under her chairmanship much has been achieved - nutrient standards are now in place, thousands of children are learning to cook for the first time and school cooks are being given the training they rightly deserve – in summary, millions of children are eating much better at school than they were when she came in to post. Prue has been at the forefront of these changes and she will leave a great legacy for her successor."
