Peter's Food Service opens new depot in Sidcup

The company says the new multi-million pound multi-temperature depot will act as a hub for the business' growing sales and distribution operation in the South East. The facility offers improved office and conference areas for the sales and customer service teams and increased storage and picking facilities for frozen, chilled and ambient goods. The new hub replaces Peter's Greenwich depot, which has been sold to make way for the Olympics development. Overall, it will give Peter's the capacity to expand its distribution operation in London and the South East by more than 20%. Neil Court-Johnston, managing director of Peter's Food Service Division, said: "Our new depot should be seen as a powerful illustration of our commitment to growth. "Our ambition is clear - to develop the Peter's brand within foodservice, work harder to ensure that we always meet our customers' needs and grow our business through new sales channels. Our new distribution hub in Sidcup will play a pivotal role in helping us to achieve these objectives." The project was managed by Steve Jones, Peter's Food Service's operations director. He said: "We first walked into the Sidcup unit in August 2008 so it is a great feeling to see our vision finally become a reality. We completed the project in only 15 weeks. This achievement is a credit to the Peter's Foodservice and IT teams as well as MTC Insulation Solutions Ltd who acted as our main contractor." Peter's supplies to fast food outlets, fish bars, restaurants, cafes, sandwich shops, independent retailers, schools, hospitals and hotels.
