Abstract
In partnership with award-winning educational provider, Babcock, contract caterers Palmer and Howells will be providing up to ten apprenticeships a year for young people seeking a career in catering.

The apprenticeship programme will offer young aspiring caterers the opportunity to develop managerial skills alongside practical skills to equip them for a future in the catering industry.

Lorraine Palmer, director at Palmer & Howells said: “Palmer & Howells have always seen the value young people can bring to a team and the company as a whole; with fresh ideas and enthusiasm they help keep us relevant particularly in the schools and colleges in which we cater. The apprenticeship programme is a fantastic opportunity for young people to work towards an accredited qualification while earning a salary.  We hope they will stay with us as managers of the future.”

Palmer & Howells work out of its Bristol office with ingredients sourced locally for a mixture of school and industry contracts. Chefs Kevin Howells and Lorraine Palmer formed the company in 1999.
