Claimed to be the first of its kind, the 'Fresh From Warrens On the Go' app offers convenience for the medical team and support staff working in the hospital daily, who benefit from a varied menu, including soup, smoothies, salads and freshly made sandwiches.
The app is a response from Warrens Bakery to its ongoing commitment with Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust to provide healthy and convenient options for staff and visitors. Part of this includes the rebrand as ‘Fresh From Warrens’ last year, introducing healthier eating options to the unit and most recently a new healthy meal deal initiative to encourage better food choices for staff and patients.
The app allows users to pre-order their lunch and select a pre-appointed collection point near their ward where the Fresh From Warrens team will deliver it. For those that can’t make the collection times, there are secure drop off points available around the hospital. Night shift workers can also benefit from the app as they can pre-select their orders between midnight and 6am from a special night menu, and collect from a designated Fresh from Warrens outlet at the hospital.
Mark Sullivan, chairman of Warrens Bakery, commented: “Our research undertaken ahead of the launch of the app indicated that there was a huge need for a convenient and time-saving service providing delicious, healthy food around the hospital. We are delighted with the response we've had to it which has led us to add four new collections points.”
The free app is available to download for both Android and iPhone users, with no minimum order and all new users receive 50% off their first order.
