Abstract
Ice cream brand Mövenpick has appointed a new Country Business Manager (MD) to its UK business.
Barry Areington has stepped into the role, with immediate effect. Previously with Nestle Waters as Impulse channel director for the UK, Areington was formerly based in South Africa where he was the sales director for Sara Lee and national sales manager for CPC/Best Foods. He was responsible for the development of out of home channels across this developing country where he gained "unique" knowledge and understanding of the fragmented foodservice market. Speaking of his new appointment, he said: "This is a great brand that is much loved by operators in the UK and resonates with caterer need for quality, taste and innovation. "The future will be about spring-boarding off the strong platform already in place across the Hospitality market to drive distribution, add further value to the category and ensure placement of this super-premium label. Ice-cream has a growing role to play on menus today and for caterers, there is no doubt - Mövenpick is the best in the business." Areington will be based at Mövenpick's head quarters in Surrey.
