CV-Library was founded in 2000 by Lee Biggins and attracts over 4.3 million unique visitors every month.
The average pay for catering roles sits at £23,467 (June 2019) a drop compared to £25,860 the year before (June 2018). Application rates increased 7.4% suggesting that candidates were not put off applying for new roles.
Biggins, chief executive of CV-Library, said: “In the current economic climate, it’s no wonder employers are lowering their salaries, particularly when the cost of recruiting is so high.
“Despite this, professionals in the industry should always remember that there is usually room for negotiation when it comes to pay.”
The catering industry saw job-hunting activities increase 35%, which was lower than the national average of 37.4%.
Biggins continued: “The fact that there are thousands more roles on offer, but less people actively looking for work, should spark concern for employers in the industry.
“The nation is already experiencing skills shortages and this will only continue until the government gives us more clarity on the state of our future in the EU.”
