Managing director Mark Timmerman said the operator had also gained a number of business and industry (B&I) sites plus the Ministry of Justice cluster, which is made up of 13 courts.
“Even while securing excellent growth, we maintain our company culture of being a fresh food caterer, a family-owned business, operating with one centralised head office and jealously guarding our unique selling point of being a northern contract caterer – not a national operator.
“On average we experience a 16% to 20% increase in sales when we take on new catering sites. This is driven through quality food, great staff training and motivation, focused marketing and hard work.
“It’s not rocket science, but having 57% of our food purchased locally means better quality of ingredients. Some 76% of our food is prepared from scratch in the kitchen, which means better food for the customers.”
He said Mellors had gone through a rebranding exercise in 2014, with a new logo and image.
“Our new web site was launch last week which showcases our new brand and services to our key markets of B&I, education and the commercial sector.”
The company now has more than 1,000 employees.
“We have invested strongly in our operation team and HR function to secure and mobilise this businesses. In addition, we have increased our business development team by 50%,” added Timmerman.
