The McCain Simply One Pot Meal Competition challenges cooks to create the dishes using the McCain Simply range of potato products with any other ingredients they like.
The competition hopes to highlight how one pot cooking can alleviate the pressure on staff levels, kitchen space and increased queuing as well as recognising local authority school cooks.
Katrina Ellis, product manager for McCain Foods, said: “Schools are always on the lookout for new meal inspiration, and creative ways of presenting meals, and the McCain Simply One Pot Meal Competition will help to showcase the wide variety of great tasting, easy to prepare and serve dishes that can be created in one pot, reducing the need for equipment, oven and hob space. It will also help to showcase the skill of some of the cooks working within the industry, who often don’t receive the credit that they deserve.”
The winning cook will receive a culinary trip for two to Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage HQ and their recipe will be published in a series of recipe sheets, along with the other finalist’s dishes.
