Abstract
Matthew Martin, a chef with contract catering company Wilson Vale at its Napp Pharmaceuticals client site in Cambridge, has created a winning recipe which will help to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

His recipe for carrot, cranberry and mixed seed muffins will now be used throughout 70 Wilson Vale restaurants nationwide over the next 12 months, with a percentage of each sale going to the charity.

Andrew Wilson, co-founder and managing director of Wilson Vale, said: “Macmillan is our nominated charity this year so our catering teams will go all out to raise money for this very worthy cause.

“I am delighted that a young and passionate chef has won. It was a difficult decision because all of our chefs pride themselves on their home baking but Rachel Merrick, an area manager for Macmillan, finally chose Matthew’s recipe, and I have to say, the muffins are absolutely delicious.”

Martin, aged 22, is from Charteris in Cambridgeshire and works as one of a Wilson Vale brigade of 26 catering for around 1,000 people employed by Napp and its independently associated companies based on the Cambridge Science Park in Cambridge.

He started his career with Wilson Vale as a kitchen porter and with encouragement, guidance and training is now a commis chef at Napp Pharmaceuticals.
