Abstract
Lamb Weston's sweet potato fries scooped a gold accolade at the British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF) Annual Awards last week (10th June 2010).
The product won the "Best New Accompaniment/Potato/Vegetable" category after beating off stiff competition from other major brands.
Speaking after the awards, Phil Cumming, UK sales & marketing director for Lamb Weston was delighted with the achievement: "Sweet Potato fries give caterers a point of difference on the menu and we are delighted that they have been recognised for such an important award. "Our own research actually shows that 89% of operators serving Sweet Potato Fries say their menu now appeals to a much wider range of customers, so the figures really do speak for themselves!"
With the increasing popularity of sweet potatoes, research shows that 50% of consumers are willing to pay up to 50% more for sweet potato fries, so operators can once again benefit by charging a premium price for these special fries.
Sweet potato fries work well as a starter, bar snack, or as part of a combination platter to share.
