Abstract
LACA has joined forces with Unox to organise a trip to Venice and Padua for 2024 School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) winner Jennifer Brown alongside previous LACA chairs Anita Brown and Brad Pearce as well as other guests.

The LACA School Chef of the Year competition is the ‘perfect showcase’ for passionate school chefs to demonstrate what they do best every day.

Jennifer Brown, from Sarum Academy in Salisbury, won the 2024 SCOTY final after she impressed judges with her inclusion of fish, ambitious flavours and creativity. For her main dish, she cooked ‘Easy like Monday mornay’ - baked pollock with cheese sauce in a potato and spinach case. For dessert, Jennifer prepared a rhubarb and custard meringue tart with raspberry coulis.

The group will fly out to Italy followed by a trip to Venice for sightseeing and lunch at a local restaurant.

The next day the group will travel to Unox HQ to learn more information about the company, meet some of the people that make Unox tick and have a tour of the factory. There will also be a product demonstration from the Unox corporate chef team.

Robert Edwards, market development specialist at Unox, said: “The trips tend to follow a tried and tested formula; we aim to fit a lot into the 72 hours and showcase as much as we possibly can. We cannot wait to introduce you all to our wonderful world.”

The group will head to Padua the next day to visit the food markets, grab lunch, buy souvenirs and reflect on the last 72 hours before flying home back to England.
