Abstract
There are now more jobs available in the hospitality and catering industry, reported leading job site reed.co.uk.
Their most recent Job Index indicates that the sector has experienced a sharp rise from 122 points in February to 157 points in March. These findings are supported by the latest study from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), which has indicated that the catering industry has played an important part in driving the growing number of permanent jobs in the UK since the turn of the year. City based catering chains are also providing hundreds of opportunities for jobseekers. Within the last month, popular sandwich chain Pret A Manger has employed 550 new employees and opened 24 new stores in Britain. The company will also launch a further 20 branches abroad in France and America. Clive Schlee, chief executive of Pret A Manger, which was established in 1986, recently spoke out: "We're investing heavily in future growth. We've held prices low while continuing to build the business."
