Abstract
A group of 44 key industry players took part in the Three Peaks Challenge last weekend (16-18 September) in support of the Hospitality Action charity.
Teams from 3663, BaxterStorey, Fresh RM, Jellybean Creative Solutions, Lancaster London Hotel, McCann Enterprise, Northcote Manor, Nestlé Professional, Red Carnation Hotels and took part in the contest.
Each team of four people was tasked with raising £5,000 in a bid to raise £50,000 for the charity.
The challenge started at Ben Nevis on Friday before heading south for Scafell Pike and culminating at Snowdon on Sunday morning. The challenge involved ascending over 3,000 meters as well as driving 480 miles between the mountains.
One of Hospitality Action's newest patrons, Nigel Haworth, commented: "It was incredibly tough. It was wet, cold with buffeting winds and little visibility and just as you thought you had reached the summit, you realised there was more to go. Everyone involved dug deep inside themselves to complete this challenge for a hugely worthy cause".
Neil Stephens from Nestlé Professional said: "I would like to sincerely congratulate and thank everyone who took part. The Three Peaks Challenge is incredibly tough in the height of summer, let alone in the prevailing conditions over the weekend. "To climb these mountains with little visibility in poor conditions takes real courage and endurance and on behalf of Hospitality Action, every participant has made a real contribution. I'm proud of them all".
Penny Moore of Hospitality Action added: "We can't thank everyone who participated enough. What an inspiration to us all – these teams endured some horrendous conditions on the mountains and even the experienced climbers who led the expedition admitted it was very tough. I understand the night ascent of Scafell Pike was particularly hard. This has made a massive contribution to Hospitality Action and we're on way to reaching our target of £50,000."
