Abstract
Due to a growing demand for classes that focus on healthy eating and nutrition, Leiths School of Food and Wine has introduced three new workshops that will concentrate on healthy desserts, cakes and gluten free products.
The courses will run on 13 October, looking at healthy desserts and cakes and on 8 December the focus will be on bars and truffles. The sessions will begin at 11.30am and will run until 3/3.30pm costing £100 per person.
Sweet specialist Liz Bygrave will be showing attendees how to make a range of chocolate recipes, all completely free from any sugar, dairy or wheat. She will be using 'raw chocolate' (also known as 'raw cacao') and natural sweeteners, and alternatives to dairy such as coconut oil and nuts. The courses are suitable for beginners and experienced cooks alike. A light lunch is included in the cost of the course.
A gluten free cooking workshop will also be running on 10 November from 10.30am to 2.30pm. The fee will be £120 per person.
The gluten free session is designed to show people how they can achieve great results making gluten free food. Using ingredients readily available in the supermarket, guests will be able to create muffins, cakes, pizza, crunchy biscotti, cookies, soups, savouries and other previously forbidden foods.
Using her experience in catering for adults and children who are gluten intolerant, Adriana Rabinovich (who trained at Leiths) will demonstrate how to enjoy life to the full and still stick to a gluten free diet. Tips and advice on how to manage and adapt to a new lifestyle will also be discussed.
