Abstract
Glennans, manufacturers of hand cooked vegetable crisps in the UK and Europe, will be holding a chef challenge at the Hotelympia on Wednesday 4 March 2010.
The glennans chef challenge is being organised by glennans for up-and-coming chefs so that they can compete in a competition in front of a live audience and be judged by highly regarded food service chefs.
The 16 chefs have to compete in teams of two and will have 35 minutes to prepare, cook and present dishes that use the glennans vegetable crisps. Two of the dishes have to be canapés, and the other dishes can either be two portions of a starter or a main course.
The winner of the competition will get a set of three German made Chef Knives by Zwilling. J. A. Henckels worth over £250. The chefs that are taking part this year are from a variety of restaurants, companies, colleges and establishment such as NEC Group, Le Cordon Bleu Cookery School in London, Connaught Rooms as well as Tanners Restaurant.
Richard Thompson, brand manager of glennans crisps, is looking forward to the competition after the success of last year: "We are really looking forward to sponsoring a category again this year, following the success we had at Hospitality last year in Birmingham. "The bar was set pretty high by the competitors from last year, but I am sure we will see some equally fantastic dishes from this year's competitor and hopefully we will find some more exciting ways that glennans vegetable crisps can be used."
