Abstract
The search is on for exceptional organisations and individuals operating within the facilities management (FM) industry in Ireland as the BIFM Ireland Region Facilities Management Recognition Awards 2013 officially open for entries.

Stephen Welch, chair of the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Ireland Region said: “Last year the standard of entries was very impressive and we hope to see even more entries into this year’s awards, reflecting the outstanding quality of execution within this field.

“This is also a significant year for BIFM as it celebrates 20 years of representing and promoting the interests of members and the wider FM community.”

He added that the awards celebrated excellence and recognised outstanding achievements, projects and those teams and individuals who had made a significant contribution to the development of the FM industry in Ireland, and in particular workplace services within the industry, including catering, security, cleaning, maintenance, energy, IT or health & safety.

This year’s award categories include FM Professional of the Year, FM Team of the Year and FM Project of the Year. Entries will be judged by an independent panel of industry and academic experts from across the UK and Ireland, including Professor Heaney, Professor of the Built Environment at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown; Liz Kentish, The FM Coach; Gareth Tancred, chief executive, BIFM; Rebekah Lyons, chief executive, Portobello Institute and Ernie Spence, secretary, NI Safety Group (2012 Winner of the title of FM Organisation of the Year).

Organisations and individuals from the public, private and voluntary sectors are encouraged to enter the awards which will ensure they are officially recognised for the excellent work that they are doing and the benchmark they are setting for the industry.

The deadline for entries is October 11th, with winners announced at the 17th annual BIFM Ireland Region Conference at the Belfast Waterfront on November 15th.
