Abstract
The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) has revealed the final shortlist for its annual Community Partnership Awards.
The final line-up was decided after an extensive judging process was undertaken by industry experts, led by the chief executive of Northern Foods and former government adviser, Lord Haskins. The companies that have been shortlisted are: AF Blakemore and Son; Alpro UK; ASDA stores; Bel UK; Bradgate Bakery; Cadbury UK; Coca-Cola Enterprises; Findus Group; General Mills UK; Greggs; Mars Chocolate UK; McCain Foods; New Covent Garden Market; Samworth Brothers; The Authentic Food Company; Typhoo Tea; Unilever UK; United Biscuits and Young's Seafood. The companies have been shortlisted in the categories of culture media and sport, environment, local community and workplace community. In a first for FDF, the company's president Ross Warburton MBE will select the overall winner of the President's Award. All of the winners will be announced at a luncheon at the Institute of Directors, London, which takes place on Tuesday 19 October 2010. Director of communications for FDF, Julian Hunt said: "The CPA Awards may already be in their eighth year, but the quality of entries we receive keeps getting better and better, demonstrating food and drink companies clear commitment to making a positive difference in their community. "We received a record number of entries this year and the standard was exceptional. All of our judges were extremely impressed by the range of inspiring initiatives being carried out by companies to engage with their local communities, help to improve the health and wellbeing of their employees, make a difference to the environment, and encourage young people to learn about our industry and to keep fit and healthy."
