Fast food threatening pupils at lunch

21st Aug 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
The Scottish Consumer Council (SCC) has raised concerns over pupils opting for high street fast foods rather than school meals, according to the BBC.
Research suggests that the number of secondary school pupils choosing to each school meals has dropped from 44.9% last year, to 42.9% this year. Therefore the SCC is calling on the Scottish Government and retailers to join forces in ensuring that pupils eat well if they went out of school for lunch. Douglas Sinclair, SCC Chair, said: "They will only stay in school if what's on offer there in terms of both food and the lunchtime environment is better than what's on offer outside."
