Derbyshire food & drink awards finalists revealed

Abstract
A total of 21 restaurants, pubs and cafes have been shortlisted for the Derbyshire Food and Drink Awards.
The shortlisted restaurants are: • Fisher's - Baslow • Buckinghams - Chesterfield • Old Hall Hotel - Buxton • Mileburne Restaurant - Melbourne • East Lodge Restaurant - Rowsley • The Dining Room - Ashbourne The shorlisted pub/bistros are: • The Royal Oak - Buxton • Ladybower Inn - Bamford • The Holly Bush - Church Broughton • The Yorkshire Bridge Inn - Bamford • The Devonshire Arms - Beeley • Chequers Inn - Calver The shortlisted tea rooms/ coffee houses are: • In a Pickle - Chapel-en-le-Frith • No 6 The Square - Buxton • Gallery Café - Ashbourne • Cavendish Rooms - Chatsworth • Croots Farm Shop - Duffield The shortlisted international restaurants are: • Siam Corner Thai Village - Chesterfield • Siam Corner Thai Restaurant - Derby • Il Portico - Chesterfield • Le Mistral – Wirksworth Meanwhile eight young chefs have been shortlisted for the Derbyshire Master Chef Competition. Sam North, Le Mistral, Wirksworth, Joseph Hill and Victoria Smout both from the Priest House Hotel, Castle Donnington and Bradley Boston from The Tiger, Turnditch all took part in the mid Derbyshire heat on 26 August at The Dining Room, Ashbourne. And James Burgess, Fisher's, Baslow, Ben Hickinson, The Maynard, Grindleford, les Buddington, Chequers Inn, Froggatt and Will McKee from The Carnarvon Arms, Mansfield all battled it out in the north Derbyshire heat on 27 August at Buckingham's, Chesterfield. The semi-finals will take place on Tuesday 1 September at Bennetts, Derby, with the final taking place on Thursday 10 September at The Opulence Restaurant, Derby and the final cook off at Bennetts, Derby on Wednesday 23 September. There is still time to enter the award for the Derbyshire Food Hero. There will be an accolade for a producer and one for a venue committed to promoting the value of fantastic local food. The closing date for entries is 1 September. Derbyshire County Council's cabinet member for regeneration, Councillor Simon Spencer, said: "The shortlist shows how many fantastic places there are to eat and drink in Derbyshire. I'm looking forward to seeing what the young Master Chefs can cook for us in a short space of time."
