Abstract
DBC Foodservice has appointed Simon King as its new buying and marketing director.
King brings to DBC's board the experience of working for a major FMCG blue-chip company, having worked at Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) for the last 13 years.
Reporting to King will be DBC's buying, marketing and quality assurance teams, across all foodservice sectors. For the past five years King worked in procurement at CCE, most recently as associate director, strategic procurement, where he was responsible for £1bn worth of spend.
Before this he gained an insight into several different areas of the business and brings to DBC the experience of working for CCE's sales and marketing teams, as well as several operations positions at the company. King looked after the contract catering side of the business as national caterers' business development manager. He also worked for AstraZeneca.
Chris Horne, managing director of DBC Foodservice, said: "We are very pleased to welcome Simon to DBC as a new member of the management team. Simon brings with him the structure, rigour and vision of having worked for a major FMCG blue-chip company, attributes which will be extremely valuable in driving our buying and marketing teams forward and ultimately building DBC's business."
Simon King, buying and marketing director at DBC Foodservice, added: "I am delighted to join DBC and to be part of such a dynamic organisation as well as the largest British-owned foodservice company. "Everyone I have met so far at DBC is highly passionate about food and has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the industry. I am greatly looking forward to working with my teams to further grow DBC in the marketplace and ensure that its excellent customer service continues to come first and foremost."
