Abstract
Coffee company Coopers has announced that it’s sponsoring Cup North, the first major coffee festival to take place outside of London.

The inaugural event, which started as a Kickstarter campaign, runs from 1-2 November in Salford, Manchester. The festival was established by the coffee community in Manchester to showcase the best that the coffee industry has to offer, with a range of exhibitors and industry competitions taking place across the two days.

Alastair McElhoney, Regional Business Manager, Coopers said: “There’s so much happening in the Northern coffee market, with the artisanal coffee scene going from strength to strength in all the major cities and towns.

“As a local company supporting the market in our region is extremely important to us and we’re really proud to be a part of making this event happen.”

For the event, Coopers has sourced some of the best coffees from plantations across the globe and will be serving a unique single origin of Nicaragua Finca El Bosque (Microlot), which is one of only six bags available in the world. The company will also be conducting coffee tastings and masterclasses throughout the day.

The winner of the official grinder at the UK Barista Championships 2015, the VA388 Black Eagle espresso machine and Mythos One grinder with Clima-Pro technology from Nuova Simonelli, will also be showcased by Cooper’s specialist baristas.

Coopers Coffee was founded in 1990 and supplies coffee, equipment, training and category management to independent businesses across the UK and is part of the larger UCC Coffee UK & Ireland.

Cup North takes place on 1-2 November 2014 at Artwork, Salford.
