Abstract
Two employees of education catering business, Chartwells, have reached the second round of a national televised food competition where counties compete head-to-head and course-by-course.
Davinia Morrison, chef at Prior Park Preparatory School in Cricklade, and Stephen Drane, general manager at Millfield Senior School and Millfield Preparatory School in Somerset, made up half of the Wiltshire team for ITV's Taste The Nation programme. The Wiltshire team competed to decide which team member's recipe would be chosen to be taken to round two, to be prepared for a panel of judges. Davinia's recipe of loin pork with blue cheese and herb crust with wilted spinach, honey and chilli parsnips and a reduced beetroot and apple sauce was selected. Davinia said: "I've always been interested in John Burton Race's cooking so to be mentored by him was a privilege. Being on Taste The Nation gave me a great opportunity to work with like-minded people and gain some really valuable experience but it was also lovely to be able to share the whole process, from the application stage to being knocked out, with children at school."
