15th Nov 2010 - 00:00
Abstract
Staff at workplace catering specialist Catermasters have raised a massive £27,400 for Teenage Cancer Trust.
Catermasters announced last year that it was going to embark on a major fundraising initiative to bring its staff and customers even closer together through a raft of "fun and exciting" fundraising activities. Teenage Cancer Trust - a charity that provides care and professional support for young people and their families throughout their battle against cancer - was chosen as the beneficiary and staff set out to raise £50,000 within a two year period. Initiatives have included cup cake sales, an evening function and charity auction to celebrate Catermasters' 20th birthday, staff and customers climbing Snowdonia in Wales, a homemade chutney sale and various sponsored bike rides. The caterer has also introduced a 'Club 100' lottery where staff voluntarily donate £2 each month from their wages and are entered into a draw to win a first prize of £100 and a second prize of £50. Catermasters' joint managing director Richard Moody said: "We're absolutely thrilled and proud of the response we've had to our Teenage Cancer Trust fundraising initiative. Many of our staff and customers have gone out of their way to raise money and the effort they have put in has been unbelievable and truly inspiring." Annmarie Carey, Teenage Cancer Trust regional fundraising manager - north, added: "The fantastic amount that's already been raised shows how much hard work has gone into staging so many great events and also the wonderful commitment from all the staff at Catermasters and their customers. We are thrilled with the support so far and look forward to continuing our work with the Catermasters team in the future."
