Abstract
The tastiest and most innovative of the UK’s organic food market was celebrated at the annual the Best of Organic Market (BOOM) awards on July 5 at London’s Borough Market.

Winners at the prestigious ceremony, which is run by the Soil Association, were decided by an expert panel of chefs, retailers, food experts and journalists. Those to pick up awards included Ocado for best organic independent retailer and Waitrose for best organic supermarket.

A recent report from the Soil Association estimated the UK's organic market to be now worth over £2 billion, up 7.1% from last year. Shoppers are increasingly looking for organic and 82% of UK shoppers are now buying at least one organic item per year, up from 79.5% in 2016.

“It's a positive time for organic. There are now more than 8,000 stores nationwide that stock organic products, from supermarkets to independents to coffee shops and high street restaurants,” said Clare McDermott, business development director at the Soil Association.
