Under the contract, 300 staff will provide a full range of catering services for 14,000 of the broadcaster’s staff and their visitors.
The contract, which starts on April 1st, extends to 27 outlets including 24/7 staff restaurants, deli bars and Costa Coffee outlets in addition to catering for meetings and green rooms, and for events such as the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.
The 18 locations include landmark sites such as New Broadcasting House and Media Village in London, MediaCityUK in Salford Quays, Cardiff and Bristol. They range from offices and production facilities to broadcast sites.
Henry Watts, managing director of Servest Catering, said the BBC’s catering was previously delivered by two FM providers and their sub-contractors.
“Servest won the contract, under a competitive tender, because of its expertise as a national service provider with a local focus and an acute awareness of customer engagement.”
Alan Bainbridge, director of the BBC's facilities management re-procurement project, said: "We were impressed by all the bids received but the value and local focus offered by Servest Group made it the right choice for this important contract.
“Having been successful in winning all the procurement lots, the BBC will benefit from both consistency across all sites but local sourcing wherever possible.”
Watts added: “We are thrilled to have won this major contract with such a prestigious organisation. It is testament to our ability to provide nationwide coverage with a local focus.
“Our aim is to do for staff and visitors to the BBC, just what we do best every day. That is to provide a contemporary catering service that has great people and local, seasonal produce at its core.”
Rob Legge, Servest’s chief executive for UK and Europe, said: “We are excited to be working with the corporation over the coming years to deliver first-class food service across the UK.
“We pride ourselves on our approach to delivering an innovative, market-leading service.”
