Abstract
The BaxterStorey team at Manchester City Academy Stadium pulled out all the stops when catering for the women’s Euro 2022- their biggest event to date.

The stadium, which is home to Manchester City Women’s Football Club, hosted three group games throughout July with an average of 4,500 excited fans from across Europe cheering on their teams. Head chef Chris Gray and sous chef Darren Chapman were tasked with creating a memorable experience for 170 VIPS at each match.

Jeremy Wood, managing director of BaxterStorey, said: “It was a regional team effort to cater on such a grand scale for what was an incredible three days of match day hospitality. The chef team created an exceptional food experience for fans and VIP guests and managed the complicated logistics of all three events with fine precision. I am extremely proud of the whole team.”

The menu included:

  • Canapes of chipotle cumberland sausages wrapped in bacon, cep mushroom puree crostinis and whipped feta, pine nut and honey mini tartelettes
  • Chef’s table display with dressed salads, antipasti platters, slow-cooked topside of beef with crushed mustard potatoes and garlic kale, and fillet of hake with dill caper lemon dressing
  • slow cooked shredded beef, caramelised onion and rocket baguettes and nachos with pulled barbecue jackfruit
  • Cissy Greens curried chickpea and steak pies, served with skin-on rosemary fries
