Abstract
The average British worker spends £624 on lunch per year, according to a study into UK workers' lunchtime spending habits by money saving site VoucherCodes.co.uk.
Londoners spend the most on their lunch, averaging £15.75 per week, with those in the East Midlands the least likely to splash the cash on sandwiches, spending on average only £9.40 per week.
Other figures found that over half of the 3,000 British workers surveyed now think it would be acceptable to use a 2 for 1 restaurant voucher on a client lunch.
Duncan Jennings, co-founder and managing director of VoucherCodes.co.uk commented: "As UK consumers become more and more switched on as to how small savings can contribute to a bigger financial gain, things like expensive lunches are off the menu.
"This is highlighted by the fact that an amazing one in three people across the UK are now bringing in packed lunches. 2 for 1 vouchers are an excellent way of saving money and the fact people are now using them for business lunches shows that smart savings are now more important than being flash with the cash!"
