Abstract
School caterer, Alliance in Partnership (AiP), has won its first vegetarian and egg-free school meals contract at the multi-faith Nishkam High School (Birmingham).

Given it’s Sikh background, all menus at the multi-cultural school must be both vegetarian and egg-free, and include at least one traditional Sikh meal a week.

Having recently started the contract, AiP said it looked to Japanese, African, Greek and Italian cultures for inspiration, with dishes ranging from tofu and vegetable ramen to herb crusted macaroni cheese and vegetarian pesto-roasted vegetable kebabs with flat bread.

Head teacher Damien Kearns said: ‘AiP has adapted really well to the very particular needs of our school.

“Its reputation within the educational sector is excellent but I was especially impressed during the tender process, by the passion it demonstrated for its area of specialism as well as the quality of the food itself.

“We are delighted to bring (AiP) on board as part of our all-round excellent provision for our pupils."
