Abstract
Wholesale foodservice distributor 3663 has joined forces with SITA UK to offer customers a unique collection offering.

Following the success of the improved waste oil recycling scheme, this new initiative is set to help the industry achieve zero waste to landfill.

The scheme, which is a not-for-profit sustainability initiative, looks at materials delivered into and collected from each of 3663’s sites. For large 3663 customers this means providing bespoke ‘packing in’ stats, ensuring that they receive a closed loop report based on what physically goes in and out.

SITA UK will provide an initial audit on waste and recycling requirements and an onboard weighing facility for each collection.

The partnership will not only provide 3663 customers with a service that will physically collect and distribute waste to be reused and recycled, but SITA UK’s monitoring and reporting means that 3663 customers have live and accurate access to the progression of the decrease in the environmental impact across their business.

This new customer service will give customers greater control over their waste, enable them to recycle more, help them reduce their impact on the environment, reduce costs and ensure compliance with waste legislation, giving customers just another reason to be working with 3663.

Bernadette Chamley, 3663’s manager of the scheme said: “Our customers have been asking us for some time to collect packaging and other waste streams. Up until now, we have only been able to collect and recycle waste cooking oil via our partnership with Convert2Green. As part of our continued commitment to sustainability initiatives, we are now able to offer our customers a fully comprehensive waste and recycling service.”

Adrian Clarke, sales director for SITA UK, added: “Our ability to give clear and accurate reports about the types and volumes of waste customers produce will help highlight where improvements can be made and new solutions provided. Combined with 3663’s existing environmental schemes, this should help drive a significant increase in recycling and reduction in waste for them and their customers.”
