Abstract
Caterers, chefs and stewards from the Army, RAF and Navy will be pitting their culinary skills against each other next month in a series of competitions at the 2010 Combined Services Culinary Challenge.
The aim of the event, which is taking place at Sandown Park Race Course from 28-30 September, is to provide chefs and caterers of HM Armed Forces with a competition which develops their culinary skills. Each of the three days is dedicated to one of the three Services; Tuesday 28th September (RAF day), Wednesday 29th September (Army Day), and Thursday 30th September (Navy day). Running alongside the competition will be an exhibition showcasing a wide range of food, drink and equipment. The Practical Theatre will be the central focus where chefs will compete live against their service counterparts. Meanwhile The Parade de Chefs will see teams of three chefs taking turns to produce a three course lunch to the highest standards. The Display Salon will include the Inter-Services buffet display as well as decorative cakes, fat carvings, cold platters and works in sugar. And The Skills Arena will play host to the Steward competitions together with live demonstrations by celebrity and Service chefs. The competition and exhibition is open each day from 8am to 5pm.
