In the latest in this series of interviews, he makes the point that the ruling SNP and Green coalition in Holyrood has been pushing suppliers, retailers and caterers to be ready to implement the DRS this summer but have 'failed to provide the answers that local authorities need'.
That situation has been exacerbated by the resignation of Nicola Sturgeon as leader of the SNP, with two of the three contenders to replace her promising to put the introduction of DRS 'on hold'.
"This is a real concern for members of ASSIST FM and unfortunately we're not getting the traction we need to take this forward right now," he says.
As chair of ASSIST FM, Chris represents all 32 local authorities in Scotland, which between them deliver school meals as well as catering services in care settings and civic offices.
In his day job he is senior operations manager at City of Edinburgh Council, where he heads an internal catering department that manages 95 educational establishments and several commercial buildings delivering 22,000 meals a day.
