Abstract
As I sit down to write this, I am just back home from the LACA Main Event and what an event it was too. There were so many delegates, suppliers, partners, speakers, competitors and friends to meet, network with and catch up with.

I am frazzled. But you know, it was amazing and reminded me of why exactly we all do this. Our industry is so passionate about its role in feeding our nations.

During the Main Event we were, of course, in the fever of election day and results night. The social areas were buzzing with talk of who had won seats, who had lost them, and as it started to become clear that there would be a landslide of epic proportions there was an electric atmosphere, with many staying up until the not-so-early morning hours.

This new administration buys us in the public sector a golden opportunity to lobby, gain support and, where appropriate, funding to ensure we can deliver services and products that meet our customers needs and enable us to support our countries and protect vital services such as care and the NHS.

Public food has never been as important as it is right now, so I urge you all to get your newly-elected MP into you operations and explain how life really is on the front line. This isn’t a time to moan and groan, instead we should offer answers and solutions to the issues we have been facing and enable our elected members of parliament to campaign on our behalf in parliament to drive change for good.

So don’t sit back, step up, be bold and brave. Remember these parliamentarians want to get wins, so let’s capitalise whilst we can.

As we romp up to what is supposed to be summer, I wish you all a great time and if you manage a break, I hope it will be a very happy and safe one.
